DONATING OUR SERVICES TO DIY SOS: THE BIG BUILD
Nov
2022

Fire Glass were happy to donate services to DIY SOS: The Big Build, to help on a project for the BBC charity ‘Children in Need’. Getaway Girls is a Leeds-based charity which supports and empowers young women in Leeds.

We worked with the design team, who were looking for suitable and safe glazing solutions.

Our installation team measured for a fire-rated screen and replacement vision panels for the doors. The design team requested that the existing door vision panels, which had striped manifestations, be replaced by clear glass for new designs to be applied. The glass was processed by Fire Glass and delivered by their Sales Manager Brian Tilley the same day.

Fire Glass happily donated and reglazed nine Pyrodur® 7-105 clear glass for door vision panels and a screen size of 1190 x 1890mm Pyroguard Rapide Plus 15mm, fitted into the existing timber frame by Andy Sinclair and Martin Davies from our installation team.

DIY SOS relies on support and generosity from local communities to donate their time, space, expertise and products to help change the lives of those in need.

Our Fire Glass representatives were there for the grand reveal and enjoyed helping out this community, seeing how things are managed and what is involved in completing such a huge project. We hope that the ‘Getaway Girls’ enjoy their new build.

The show aired on TV on Wednesday 16th November at 9pm. We are not endorsed in any way by the BBC, DIY SOS or any of their representatives.
