‘Employee of the Month’ two months in …

Fire Glass UK run an ‘Employee of the Month’ scheme to recognise outstanding work achievements of our employees. The scheme encourages individual initiative, commitment and overall long term excellence as well as working and mentoring others within their teams.

Sean Buckley and James Fernley have both achieved ‘Employee of the Month’ status in August and September respectively. This has been a huge boost for the Team at Fire Glass North.

Andrew Hornigold, Branch Manager said “Shaun’s contributions of going above and beyond are plentiful and anything that is asked of him he fulfils without any hesitation. Not only does he work to instruction, but he will also use his initiative and suggest alternative ideas to help. He is always happy to stay late if requested without complaint and ends his lunch break independently to sort any deliveries or projects that need attention.”

Sean recently organised the Double Glazed Units area to be more streamlined which in turn is more productive. He really enjoys his work and takes pride in what he does.

Andrew continues “Sometimes it’s the little things that make the biggest impact. Shaun has taken Prince Hamstrong under his wing to show him the procedures at Fire Glass North and on the DGU area. We have noticed that Prince’s work ethic is now matching Shaun’s with his willingness to help out wherever he is needed and also thinking outside the box.”

“James’ organisation skills and helpfulness are what has made him stand out so much within the business. The saw area has been very busy for quite a few months now and James is starting to shine in not only his organisational skills but also helping all out in that area wherever needed – be it assistance or knowledge. Over the last few months, he has helped our new Production Manager; Wieslaw settles into his new role by offering him assistance and knowledge of the company working procedures.

James is the type of person to tackle things head-on. He has taken it upon himself to sort out the offcuts and get into a routine where he always looks at offcuts first – which has now been made easier by the way he has organising the off-cuts area. He will always help his colleagues by assisting them in lifting and helping to explain how procedures are maintained correctly.

James is also handy when it comes to machinery repairs which allow us to have less down-time in the factory which in turn could lead to loss of productivity and cause delays in delivery times.”

Andrew commented “Our whole team at Fire Glass North are outstanding in their roles, we all work together to achieve our customer service focus: The ‘Fire Glass Promise’ (SQS: Safety, Quality and Service). It was warmly received when we heard our team members had achieved ‘Employee of the Month’ status for two consecutive months. We couldn’t be more proud of both Shaun and James’ achievement. Well Done Guys, keep up the good work”
