Factory Operative Trainee
Derby

Purpose of job
To assist in a busy glass warehouse in the preparation of flat and laminated glasses.

Job will include heavy lifting, manual handling and the ability to work to tight deadlines.

The successful applicant would also receive training in different aspects of the glass trade with the opportunity to learn a new skill set and progress within the company.

To load, unload, and drive company vehicle if required, primarily to deliver or pick up merchandise or to deliver packages.(desirable be not essential)

Trainee Administration Assistant.
Derby

 

Fire Glass UK is one of the UK’s leading manufacturers, suppliers and glaziers of fire and acoustic glass, and is looking to appoint to the following role to their Derby : Trainee Administration Assistant.

We are looking for a committed, and driven individual to join our busy Production team.
This is a fast paced role which works closely with both Branch Manager and Production Manager, and the use of Microsoft/bespoke computer programmes.
The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to develope within the Company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting the team with general admin duties
  • Answering the phone, take messages, transferring calls to
    relevant staff
  • Keeping records up to date, paper and computer based
  • Using office equipment, such as printers, photocopiers,
    scanner
  • Building and maintaining relationships with customers
  • Use different software (Excel, presentation, bespoke) in
    order to keep all records up to date.

Skills/Qualifications required:

  • Excellent spoken and written English
  • Good IT skills
  • Complaint handling
  • Excellent telephone manner
  • Accuracy and attention to detail

SALES/ESTIMATOR
HEAD OFFICE OLDBURY

 

Fire Glass UK is one of the UK’s leading manufacturers, suppliers and glaziers of fire and acoustic glass, and is looking to appoint to the following role to their Oldbury (Head Office) branch: Sales/Estimator – supply only.

You will need to be enthusiastic, confident and motivated with good communication skills and able to work well as part of a team as well as the ability to be self-sufficient. Ability to demonstrate attention to detail and be able to work to deadlines, whilst liaising with our customers is vital to this role.

A working knowledge of Microsoft Office particularly Excel is essential and an understanding of G-Trak systems is desirable.

We are seeking someone who is able to build relationships with existing and new customers and is focused on putting customer relationships first and foremost.

The successful candidate will join an established team and will be an important member of that team; your prime focus will be to actively win, retain and grow the business knowing you are able to count on professional back up and support from your team and colleagues at all times.

You will receive full training and guidance from our team of experienced sales/estimators.

THE ROLE – SALES/ESTIMATOR:

  • Create and service sales enquiries in a new business development situation
  • Report on sales activities and provide relevant information to senior management.
  • Create and maintain estimating pricing matrix
  • Review incoming enquiries, establishing the full scope of works, liaising with sales/customers as necessary to resolve any queries
  • Working within agreed timescales
  • Cost reconciliation and handover to Sales and Production teams
  • Prepare and lead the compilation of tenders
  • Develop customer relations and manage expectations
  • Comply with estimating processes
  • Source and liaise with external suppliers and subcontractors ensuring that they are fully compliant and suitably qualified
  • Work in conjunction with administration staff in preparation of the estimate
  • Order and coordinate deliveries for materials
  • Minimum hours of work are 8 am to 5 pm, working Mon – Fri

THE PERSON:

  • Previous experience of estimating in glass industry sector (2 years preferred)
  • Highly professional with an ability to build relationships and influence at all levels
  • Possess well-honed sales skills and a strong determination to succeed but will also have a sound technical grounding
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills are important together with strong negotiation, commercial and analytical skills
  • A commercial approach with a clear focus on standards and quality
  • A desire to build upon your current skill set and be a part of a growing organisation
  • Confidently communicate with all members of the team
  • A polite manner and high attention to detail are essential to this role
  • Cost planning
  • Possess good mathematical skills
  • Computer literacy, ideally strong Excel experience
  • Strong commercial awareness and commitment to achieving deadlines

KEY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as an Estimator within the glass industry sector
  • Microsoft Office packages

Forklift licence preferred but not essential. from £8.00 per hr, Full time permanent position, Full driving licence required. Previous experience of the glass industry is preferred, however, full training will be provided.
