Laura is the Office Manager at Fire Glass South, she is responsible for overseeing and supporting all administrative duties and handling customer queries, working alongside all departments to help maintain their targets.
WHAT IS A TYPICAL DAY AT FIRE GLASS LIKE FOR YOU?
A typical day at fire glass for me is varied and interesting. I have different tasks to do throughout each day/week with varying deadlines, working closely with colleagues and other departments on a daily basis. I’m new to Fire Glass South so still learning and finding my feet but settling in well.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE BEST ABOUT YOUR JOB?
Working with others as part of a team to help achieve the same goals. I work closely with customers to fulfil their requirements and also help and guide colleagues. Learning about the products we sell and specialist glass, in general, is something I enjoy a lot.
WHAT PARTS OF YOUR JOB DO YOU FIND MOST CHALLENGING?
Pushing myself out of my comfort zone by calling potential prospects is the most challenging, however, it is very rewarding when they want a price or even places an order, this makes it very worthwhile and helps build confidence.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE SOMEONE WHO IS SEEKING THE SAME LINE OF WORK?
Be confident, believe in yourself and go for it.
WHAT DO YOU DO OUTSIDE OF WORK?
My main passion is paddle boarding, I’ve been doing this for four years, mostly on the river, although I sometimes venture on tidal waters - sunrise paddles are the best. I also enjoy walking and cycling and occasionally go to the gym.

The Weekend.

The Noodle Bar - calamari or a steak at Miller and Carter!

Never a failure, always a lesson.
