Oliver is Branch Manager at Fire Glass Midlands, responsible for day to day production, transport and sales operations of the 11 vehicles, 2 shifts and 40+ personnel at our Midlands branch.
WHAT IS A TYPICAL DAY AT FIRE GLASS LIKE FOR YOU?
A typical day at FG Midlands is fast paced, full of challenges big and small and always too short! Whether it be turning around a quick order or getting over a production/transport challenge it is always a fast paced day from beginning to end.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE BEST ABOUT YOUR JOB?
Getting to the other side of a difficult task, production challenges, deliveries etc. Also, seeing how team members react to these challenges when they arise. It's always good seeing everyone come together to see the end result of a task that, in the beginning, seemed unlikely.
WHAT PARTS OF YOUR JOB DO YOU FIND MOST CHALLENGING?
There are a wide range of characters and personalities within our branch and keeping up to speed with all of the staffs needs is sometimes ‘testing’
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE SOMEONE WHO IS SEEKING THE SAME LINE OF WORK?
Be open minded, keep to the process and always look for the small improvements.
