This Friday, 24th April, Fire Glass will be taking part in Football Shirt Friday in support of Cancer Research UK.
To show our support for this important cause, we’re inviting everyone at Fire Glass to wear their favourite football shirt and make a small donation. It’s a simple yet meaningful way to raise awareness, spark conversation, and support life-saving cancer research.

The Bobby Moore Foundation
Football Shirt Friday is inspired by the legacy of Sir Bobby Moore, England football captain and World Cup winner, who died from bowel cancer in 1993. The Bobby Moore Foundation, established in his memory, works to raise awareness and fund vital research into bowel cancer.
Bowel cancer is one of the most common cancers in the UK, but it is also one of the most treatable when detected early. Because of this, the Foundation places a strong focus on improving awareness and encouraging earlier diagnosis through education, research, and public campaigns.
Early Detection Matters
Knowing the signs of bowel cancer can save lives. Early detection significantly improves treatment outcomes, so it is important not to ignore symptoms that persist or feel unusual.
Key symptoms include:
- Persistent changes in bowel habits (such as diarrhoea or constipation)
- Blood in your stool
- Unexplained weight loss
- Ongoing abdominal pain or discomfort
- Unusual or persistent fatigue
While these symptoms do not always indicate cancer, they should always be checked by a medical professional if they continue or cause concern. Speaking to a GP early can make a real difference.
